F.E.A.R. 2 Impressions

I saw FEAR 2: PO at Target for $25. Its been there for several weeks an I thought it’d be a shame to waste such a deal if it were a decent game. I went home and downloaded the demo. This is my thoughtstream.

Warner Bros makes games? This could be terrible or good.

Post-apocolyptic landscape. Oh, but there’s a little girl. Hi little girl! Thats a nice teddy bear you got there.

Cinematic gameplay over. Time for the real thing. I assume I’m supposed to find a dead team member and take their weapon.

Ok, intel on the ground next to the body. Close enough. And now I have to hit some guy to kill him. Whatever.

Slow-mo powers! Cool! This game could be worth $25.

Ok, why can’t I kill this bitch? Oh, its a ghost-thingy-hallucination… Thats kind of cool. Wait- I actually have to play while I’m hallucinating? In the dark?

This is actually a little bit creepy. Now my Sgt. is telling me that the little girl belongs to him. Cool. Oh wait. He just cooked up a self-incinerating mindstorm that instantly ripped the soft tissue from his body. Hmm. Kinda cheesy. Less scary.

Hey, that bus that fell on me cracked my visor! Do I have to play like this? This is fun. Hey, did I just die? I dies in a demo?! Fuck this!

These enemies are generic. Kind of boring…

A mechsuit? No. I am not paying 25 for this game.

(hit a “You were killed!” screen while pilotting the mech)
